Frequently Asked Questions

Over the last six months, I've gotten the same questions from various people. I don't mind since I'm super stoked about talking about it!

Here are a few questions/answers that I thought would help for some people who have been curious.

March Madness

The days are getting closer!

I got my homestay information.

I know who my roommate is.

I am finishing this quarter with some Gene Kelly movies.

All I need to do is pack, meet with family and friends, pack some more, send out more emails, and PACK.

This isn't much of an update, but it is definitely a post about my frantic attempts to get as much done in a matter of days!

The not-so-subtle surprise

It's been almost a full month since I was officially accepted to the study abroad program.

Since then, I've allowed several people to know about this big news.

Things I think about

I love the idea of living in London for three months

but I see the summer A-term program for Rome: Creative Writing

and immediately I remember:

Hey, now/ Hey, now/ This is what dreams are made of!
Ok I'll stop.

thiS MOVIE IS MY CHILDHOOd

Ugh, how I'd love to go to Rome, but alas, I can only choose one program for now.

But I'm a Writing Studies major...

but I can do the things it does in the program in London on my own...right?

Right.

I'm making my own story.

The day it happened

That tiny ringtone chime startled me, the afternoon of November 25th, but I was grateful that it did.

"Spring in London" appeared at the top of the screen. My eyes lit up, I grimaced, and braced for the worst.

29 November 2013

Welcome to my blog!

I'M GOING TO LONDON!!!

I've always wanted to share a personal blog with my family, friends, peers, mentors, etc. :)

So, the fact that I am starting this blog for the purpose of recording my study abroad experience makes it even more exciting!

To start off, I'll answer a few unasked questions. More Q/A will be done more in the future as I get more processed:

  • The program is through the University of Washington (Seattle campus), under the English department.
  • I am a Writing Studies major at UW-Tacoma.
  • I will be studying English during Spring 2014.
  • From March 25-June 7, 2014

I found out that I'm officially accepted into the program on November 25th, 2013, to which I shared this wonderful news to my immediate family and a select few people, including some faculty that helped me in the process.

Thanks to Merna Hecht, Mary Hanneman, Jim Liner, UWT Academic Advising, UW International Programs and Exchanges department, and UW English department.

In the coming weeks and months, I'll be queueing/posting more of my personal thoughts and experiences of the pre-departure process with the tag Journey to London. If you're seeing my blog for the first time, thanks for reading! Hope you enjoy my words. :D

Much Love, Stay Classy,
Jillian
